Cartoonist Paul Merklein entertained Liberty students recently with a demonstration of impromptu drawing and a message of how to be a Super Hero in the school community. Merklein, who resides in Maryland, was sponsored by Albany Parks and Recreation at no cost to the school. Besides drawing famous Super Heroes, Merklein addressed the issue of bullying and how students could become Super Heroes themselves by standing up for those who are victims of bullying or are in need of friendship. The assembly engaged students and was well received across the grade levels. Merklein left three of his portraits (Batman, Superman, and Spider Man) to be displayed at the school to remind students to stand up for what is right and to help those in need. Many thanks to Albany Parks and Recreation for an outstanding assembly!
